A long long time ago they sat Indian style telling myths
Using their peace pipes and the stars to unravel their own rifts
They sing dance and chant and bang on their mouths with the cupped hands
Oh they light up their incense totem poles will mark their homeland

But oh how did I learn an awful lesson
Proud Mary burn, I’m high high and old fashioned in my life

My motto’s a simple one designed around the simple life
Charcoal colored murals forever will always symbolize
The stick figured people drawn back by their arrows are their bows
Well today it is different it’s not who you are but who you know

It’s alright
Every night
Blood shot eyes
Angels cry

I didn’t know hymn
High up in heaven
